After working with the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower on the Bistro 921 website, they approached us again to redesign their Athletic Club website. Our goal was to create a primarily aesthetically-driven site that focused on a clean, modern and engaging look and feel for the site. Of course, good, strong coding and usability was also engrained in that goal and our process. Our secondary goal was to implement a content management system (CMS) for the site so in-house staff could manage and update the content as needed.
Since the Bistro 921 site was already running ExpressionEngine, instead of setting up a whole new CMS, we took advantage of EE's Multiple Site Manager, which allowed us to add another site to the single EE installation. Using MSM also meant giving certain users who need to access to both sites a single username and password. Design-wise our aim was to make the site (and by extension, the Club) appealing to guests and potential guests. We accomplished this by featuring a large photo on every page of the site and by way of the photo gallery, which also features photos of the rest of the hotel.
The colors were chosen for their calmness, but also because they line up with the hotel's primary branding. This was a fun project to work on and believe it was a success.
