Challenge
We first worked with Open Adoption & Family Services in 2006 initially to help manage and update their website, then add in a forum. That was followed by a complete rebuild in which we collaborated with a local freelance graphic designer OA&FS chose. That iteration of the site served them well and simply needed to be built on.
OA&FS called on us again to help take their site to the next level, which included adding more social media features, video and some reorganizing of various sections on the site.
Solution
Since the rebuild in 2008, the site has been powered by ExpressionEngine and has continued to be a robust and easy to use tool for the staff at OA&FS. That aspect didn't change in this rebuild. In fact, we made their workflow even easier by reorganizing the content in the CMS to be more intuitive.
Part of the reorganization of content that OA&FS was after required major changes to the URL structure of dozens of pages on the site. Luckily, EE and a few server-side tricks made this a small but critical task to help maintain search engine rankings.
The goals OA&FS set out for themselves also included adding interactive features which we implemented and customized as much as possible. This included social media links, video galleries, enhanced photo galleries and more.
