Challenge
The energy performance of one's home or what it means is not something a lot of homeowners or policymakers think about. But that's what the Home Performance Contractors Guild of Oregon aims to do: educate and serve homeowners, contractors and policymakers on the benefits of home performance and what it means for each of these groups. But in order to do that, they needed a website that could help them clearly and succinctly. So that's what we helped them do.
When we initially launched this site in early 2010, it was very simple and straightforward – two key elements required by the project stakeholders. As the Guild has moved forward, however, they got in touch with us again to add more to the site.
Solution
Our first goal was to expand the site with new and updated information. To do that, we had to adjust the width of the site to accommodate more and various kinds of content, as well as more navigation links. The design itself stayed the same but not made things a lot more comfortable overall.
Our second goal was to implement a full-fledged content management system that would allow various board members to update the site as needed. Naturally, we turned to ExpressionEngine. ExpressionEngine is making it very easy for content, including member listings, to be managed by the Guild.
