Challenge

Glass Avionics & Aviators is a brand new organization that strives to be the resource for flight instructors and aircraft owners to learn about advanced avionics equipment from makers such as Garmin and Cirrus. With ambitious (and totally achievable) goals in mind for the company and after being told it couldn’t be done by another web studio, Glass Avionics & Aviators founders decided to bank on 420 Creative to help them build their future community-based website.

The project required not just a new design, but development from the ground up. The features the Glass Avionics & Aviators team needed included a forum (the heart and soul of the site), an article archive, and an easy way for them to keep the site updated.

Solution

As we always do with each one of our clients, we started out by simply meeting with Glass Avionics & Aviators and discussing the ins and outs of their expectations for the site. This didn't just include the features and functionality of the site, but the design and how to best appeal their target market. Turns out we're good listeners – we presented our design and they loved it so much, we felt like buzzing an airport tower.

Once the design was all set, it was a smooth ride where we implemented a robust content management system with accompanying forum module. We built the site to cater to the community aspect of the business first and foremost by featuring recent forum topics on the home page. This also involved building in member features that could easily scale as membership grows.
