
Creative direction, logo design
Our new collaboration with Castellanos Catering started with their logo. We both agreed something unique that also "spoke" catering, wasn't overly cliched or obvious, but instead was different in execution was the right direction. The owner had some firm ideas about color and shapes, which provided the foundation for our exploration of ideas.
One of the challenges we encountered was trying to come up with a unique mark that also brought in the letter 'C' from Castellanos, the owner's last name. We attempted a few things but found that not only had other catering companies around the region done similar things, so had other companies in different industries. The biggest challenge, however, was developing a readable and clear logo with a long name. So instead of focusing on the name as much as we wanted to initially, we redirected our attention to a mark that would complement the name and provide balance to its length. The final result is simple clean, and balanced.
