Backup your website is a breeze using your hosting account cPanel.
- Log in to cPanel.
- Under the Files section, click on Backup Wizard.
- Under step 1, click on Backup.
- At step 2, you'll want to download partial backups. While a Full Backup is possible, it will put a copy of the files in your hosting account which then requires FTP to download. Unless you're familiar with FTP, it's best to choose any of the three Partial Backup options, depending on your needs. See the instructions below for each type.
Backing up your site files (home directory)
- Click Home Directory.
- On the next screen, click on the Home Directory button.
- Your download should begin. Note: the files will be compressed in a .tar.gz file format which can be decompressed by most computer systems. Depending on the size of your site and/or the number of pages and files, the download may take several minutes or more.
Backing up your MySQL Databases (only if your site runs on software that requires a database)
- Click on MySQL Databases.
- On the next screen you'll see a list of all your databases. Click on the name of each database to download a backup.
Backing up email forwarders & filters
- Click on Email Forwarders & Filters
- On the next screen you'll see lists of any forwarders or filters for each domain on your account. Click the name of each one to download a backup.
