Back in July I received an email from a marketing company's mailing list I subscribed to. This was the first since subscribing and I was rather surprised by it. And not in a good way.
The writer starts off with this:
> Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard of Web 2.0
And it went downhill from there.
Perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised that a marketing company was using a buzzword, but I was. And it wasn't that what they wrote was entirely incorrect; it's that used a played-out buzzword (is that a contradiction?) to tell their readers that blogs, RSS feeds and podcasts are great Web technologies to use for marketing. This is nothing new!
So folks, next time you read about Web 2.0 being the next best thing that your business should grab hold of, please... take it with a grain of salt.
