Update: We are no longer accepting applicants for this position.

We knew it would come this year and it finally has. We're looking to find a special someone (a web developer, to be specific) to join our tiny team.

Who we're looking for

A solid web developer with versatile skills and a wide range of interests. Someone with such a passion for the web it actually shows in their work (not just in words). Someone who is always looking for new ways to learn and grow, both independently and by working with other devs. A person who can talk design strategy, lives and breathes web standards and can implement the functionality while juggling a soccer ball. (Okay, maybe not juggling a soccer ball...)

Core Skills

  • PHP, MySQL, .htaccess and all the joy that comes with them
  • ExpressionEngine
  • Communication, communication, communication
  • JavaScript (particularly jQuery)
  • Attention to detail
  • Obsessively clean, semantic code
  • Did I mention communication?

Major Bonus Points for...

  • Experience with CodeIgniter
  • Knowing version control (ideally Git)
  • Kicking PayPal in the rear (because we know it's such a joy to work with)
  • Having a sense of humor and not taking yourself too seriously
  • Having the ability to architect a solution on your own if needed

A few extra points if...

You can wrestle Drupal into submission

Stuff you should be comfortable with...

  • Basecamp, Campfire (IM) & Telephone
  • Client meetings
  • Providing and accepting constructive feedback
  • Deadlines. Seriously... we're fun, but we do make deadlines.
  • Mac. We don't discriminate if you use Windows, but we're a Mac studio
  • Weekends. We hate working on weekends. Or late nights for that matter.

Other info

  • This is a part-time gig.
  • You'll be working out of your home with regular meetings/check-ins. (In other words, it's a telecommuting job, but I hate that word.)
  • We're based in the Portland Metro area. You need to be too. No exceptions.
  • We are taking our time finding the ideal person, so if you're in a rush, this may not be the right opportunity.

How to apply...

Update: We are no longer accepting applicants for this position.

Please send us an email with the following:

  • Resume (PDF only)
  • Work examples / portfolio
  • Bonus points for creativity

Word to the wise: No, we're not 37signals. Or Happy Cog. Or Blue Flavor. Or any of those bigger agencies that most of us in the biz admire. But we are successful and we love our clients and our work because we believe we're anything but average. So when we say bonus points for creativity, we really mean it. Stand out and be noticed.
