Twitter ghostwriting: yay or nay?

I recently read a blog entry (which I forgot to save and can't remember now) that went into how some people are hiring writers to write their Twitter posts (i.e., "tweets"). The author suggested that this was a good idea, even for the small business owner. I happen to disagree. As a small business owner myself I sure do understand that we get busy to keep up with life in general, let alone Twitter. But I also believe that if you're so busy you can't post 140 words or less once a week, it may be time to take another look at your time management skills. More importantly, however, using a ghost writer for Twitter completely and utterly misses the point of social media. It's called *social* media for a reason. You're supposed to socialize. Asking someone else to write for you on Twitter is a little like asking someone to show up in your place to a cocktail party. Yeah, it's a little weird. What's more, you're going to lose a ton of authenticity through this method, and in a society where authenticity is hard to come by, this could cost you more than the writer. Oh yeah, you do know that ghost writers cost money right?
