Emailing or calling every hour or every day, or even every other day, about the status of a project is no way to keep your relationship with your designer a healthy one. Instead, have trust in them as professionals that they'll do what you hired them to do, on time, on budget and with status updates. If they stop responding, *then* it's time to nag.
