SEO Isn’t Just About Keywords

I keep hearing about web designers and web developers talking about and giving talks on search engine optimization that is often filled with poor information. They often focus strictly on keywords when keywords aren't the sole thing that's going to get your site ranking.

There's still a misconception that stuffing your title tag or keyword tag with as many keywords as you want to rank for is going to get you to the top of google. The truth is, you should consider keywords as supporting actors. They're still important to the show (your site) but they're not the stars. The star of your site is your content. Period. It's your content that Google and other search engines will look at. It's your content that people will link to (because link building is critical to ranking well too). Without good content all the keyword stuffing in the world isn't going to help you. Focus on your content first, then keywords (sprinkled in). That will not only help your search rankings, it'll help keep actual human beings interested. That is your goal right?
