Search engine ranking fluctuations - part 1
By

Here's a simple fact: **Your site's search engine rankings will fluctuate.** That's just the way it is. The key is not to freak out or waste time over-analyzing it.
It's practically impossible to determine what exactly has caused your change in rankings. It may just not have anything to dow that tweak you made 2 days ago. It could be that small change you made a few weeks or months back. It could also be that your competitors made changes to *their* sites. And of course, it could also be that the search engines made tweaks to their algorithms, which they keep super secret. The point is, there's just too many variables to be 100% sure.
So what are you supposed to do then? Nothing. Don't panic. Don't worry. It's probably temporary. Unless you've dropped by hundreds of positions, it's not a big deal. Instead, focus on whether the good rankings in general are giving you the conversions you're aiming for.
But what about if your site *has* dropped hundreds of positions? That's covered in part 2.
