Ranking for as many keywords as possible

A common SEO mistake made by rookies is to stuff their sites full of keywords. Not just in the meta keywords tag, but also within their content. First let me say this: ***Stop* putting so much importance in the keywords tag.** Google doesn't really care much about it, so neither should you. With that out of the way, let's continue. Yes, you want your site to rank well for a number of keywords and search phrases. That's the ideal. The problem is that it's impossible for you or anyone else to know **all** the ways that visitors will find a way to your site. More specifically, it's just not feasible to think of all the different combinations of search terms that will 1) get you listed in search engines and 2) be used by people looking for whatever it is you're offering. Does that mean you should just hope for the best? To a degree, but no, not really. Instead, focus on your content. Your site should be info-rich. If it is, search phrases and all sorts of keyword combinations will be in there naturally, which is what Google likes as far as content goes.
