Remember Hop Studio's list of the 32 Largest ExpressionEngine Sites that I noted last month? Well, here's another to add to the list: John McCain's 2010 Senate Campaign, created by Forty. Political biases aside, there are two cool things about this that prompted me to post this.
First, ExpressionEngine. (Duh.) As EE continues to develop and mature, it's clearly becoming a solid choice for sites of all sizes. This is important when it comes to content management systems. EE beats out so many other CMS solutions on price, reliability, extensibility, security and stability. It's rare to find a gem that excels in all of those areas. From both, a client and web developer perspective, this translates into money well-spent. It means EE is a solid and reputable solution that larger companies put their business faith into.
The second cool thing about this is the process that went into the site's development. I'm sure I've said it before, but it's not too often that we see a site's process, especially a site that, let's be honest, is going to generate some heavy traffic and took way more than a month to complete. Plus, the process comes from a decent sized agency. They're not the biggest, but they sure aren't a 1-3 person agency either. So a peek at their process is great. For clients and would-be clients of ours, theirs and whomever else's, the insight (even though it's limited) can be eye opening in terms of seeing what goes on in the web design and development process. For those of us who work in or run smaller design agencies, seeing a glimpse of how a larger (and very successful) agency goes through the process can make us better.
Hats off to Forty for letting us take a peek.
