All websites, especially large ones, require maintenance at some level. Then there are those where major maintenance are a necessity, such as web apps. One such web app, CrazyEgg, was down for maintenance recently. But when I went to check my account, instead of being served with some boring message about the site being down for maintenance, I got the following:
Not only did they give me an explanation of why the site was down, they provided a cool little game to play. A great time-waster that completely diffused any frustration or disappointment I may normally have had.
Moral of the story? They kept me thinking positively about them rather than lighting any frustration with otherwise normal maintenance.
