I'm a bit late to the party (I should have posted this last week), but here goes anyway...
Most designers have seen the film _HELVETICA_. If you haven't you should. Admittedly and somewhat embarrassingly, I only just recently finally got the chance (read: time) to watch it. For those of you that *aren't* familiar with the film, it's a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture.
