Last year I attended and was part of a guest panel at the EE Roadshow. This year the Roadshow was in one of my favorite cities: Seattle. Being in Portland, I really had no excuse not to go. So I did - but only as an attendee this time. And it was a blast.
From learning how a well-known, largish studio uses EE, to how to fine-tune EE for heavily trafficked sites, to simple ways to improve development in ExpressionEngine, the entire day was packed with great information for both EE newbies and veterans.
One of the coolest things I took away was simply realizing that the very CMS we use here in Portland is used by large studios and well-known sites and brands across the nation. There's some comfort in that I guess, but mainly it's just freakin' cool.
Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with some cool people; a couple of them which are developers of some very popular EE add-ons. Getting to meet your peers is always cool; getting to meet the people that help make your job easier is kick-ass. :)
So with that, I hope that if you're an EE developer, you'll join us other EE devs at next year's EE Roadshow, wherever it may be. I can't wait!
