I'm a big believer in simple is better. Every detail in a design better have a good reason for being there. Anything else is just fluff. That includes logos. And they don't come much simpler than this one.
But what makes this one really stand out and not be a mundane logo made up of a typed up couple of words is the mark that accompanies it. The shield alone would have added little, if anything. The addition of the 'R' and the 'i' inside the logo - much like a coat of arms - helps out. Any configuration of the two letters would have provided something, but this configuration is awesome. The designer has used the lowercase 'i' for the negative space in the capital 'R'. Simple. Beautiful. Elegant.
