Blogs. They seem to be the thing right now. I have to admit, I was very resistant to the whole blog thing when I first heard about them (probably around 2-3 years ago). I was rather naive though, and I figured it was one of those things that got a lot of attention that would eventually fade. The attention, not the actual blogging, that is. I was wrong. (chuckles)

Over the past year, I started reading a few blogs. Definitely not as consistent as some, and definitely not enough to get updates through an RSS feeder. And over the last, oh say, 3 months or so, I've read more and more. Of course, being a designer (primarily web), I read, well, blogs by other designers. To be perfectly honest, it's been reading such blogs (and comments on them by readers) that has helped expand and refine my skills at web design. Who would have thought?! Certainly not me! But I digress...

After reading articles/posts on blog after blog, the itch slowly creeped up. I had to have one. It wasn't exactly the easiest thing in the world for me to do. At least, not at first. At a very minimum, I think I went through 4 installations of blog software, including this very one, which, by the way, was already included with my hosting package. (Big thumbs up to my friend and web host Max over at San Francisco Host - definitely a great hosting company!)

What was so frustrating is figuring out how to customize the blog so it looks like a part of my site and not just a piece of software (albeit cool software) that was installed on my site. But I was determined to get one working, especially with all the things that go through my head regarding design and marketing that I think clients or potential clients may find useful.

So finally, after deciding on WordPress, I took some time to research the best way to customize it so that it fits our current site design. And it turns out, it wasn't so difficult after all. Just a bit time-consuming. :) And so here it is... 420 Design's blog! Hopefully it'll be useful to you and not just a cool thing for me.
